How My Heavenly Father Saves Me
Throughout My Life

by Baylee Mrozek

You are my hiding place; You will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.  –Psalm 32:7

The day I was born, I was welcomed into the home and family of God. My parents baptized me and brought me to church on a regular basis. I never found it difficult to entirely give myself to God until I got into middle school. Believing in something I couldn’t touch or see scared me. I didn’t know how I could trust in something I didn’t even know was real. My faith was like a big roller coaster ride and I was never really sure how I felt about it all. And yet through all of that, God never gave up on me, which is why God is my hiding place, a place where I know that I am safe.

Whenever the world is throwing too much on my plate and I know I cannot handle all of the stress, I look to God and ask Him for an opportunity to find peace and resolution. And every single time, God helps me find a way through it. One example of this was when my best friend went behind my back and did things she shouldn’t have done. I felt that my heart wouldn’t be able to heal, but as I look back on it now, if that girl had remained in my life, so much more negativity would have happened. God protected me from what could have come from that. Not only that, but if a situation doesn’t resolve, I know that God has a plan. No matter what happens, God will make something good come from it when I put my trust in Him.

One word that really stood out to me in this verse is surround. I have always viewed God as some big man, with arms wide open for a hug. The word surround just helps me envision it even more: God holding out His arms ready to welcome me into Heaven. God is not only an almighty power, He is also a mentor, a father, and a home. Whenever life is going south, God is always there to surround me with His love and protection. It is fantastic to know that no matter what happens, I will always have someone there to guide my way. All of these things bring me to my point that God will always be my home, my protector, and most importantly, my safe place.

Dear Lord, I pray for all who are still looking for God in their life. I pray for all who have found You but still need reassurance. I pray for all who have given themselves to You. Dear Lord, I ask You to show all of these people that the safety You have provided for me is there for them, too. Bring them to You, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
