After 29 years of dedicated service, Roseanna Andersen, our beloved Director of Children’s Ministry, is retiring from her role at PLC effective this August. Her unwavering commitment, boundless energy, and genuine love for children and families have left an indelible mark on our congregation.
In 1995, Roseanna joined the PLC staff and from that moment, she poured her heart into nurturing the spiritual growth of our youngest members. Her passion for children and their families and nurturing faith through the generations are only the “tips of the iceberg” of the legacy she leaves.
In addition to Sunday School, Roseanna has organized and developed unforgettable Vacation Bible School experiences, engaging family events, and of course our amazing Christmas Eve family services. She also developed our Stepping Stones of Faith ministry, fostering a strong foundation of faith in our children from baptism through high school graduation. This includes our Confirmation ministry that Roseanna launched in 1996, forever impacting the lives of hundreds of our young people as well as the small group leaders who helped to guide them.
As we prepare to bid farewell to Roseanna after this summer’s VBS, please be sure to thank her for all that she has done and the shining presence of Jesus she has demonstrated in her long tenure among us. Her tireless efforts have shaped countless lives, and her impact will resonate for generations to come. We celebrate her achievements, her dedication, and the countless hours she has given to the children of our congregation.
Looking Ahead
Roseanna has graciously given us enough notice so that we can begin an immediate search process for our next Director of Children’s Ministry. We have assembled a search team charged with identifying qualified candidates to consider. Our goal is to have the next DCM identified by early May. This will allow that person to work alongside Roseanna through the summer months, planning VBS and Sunday School together and creating the smoothest transition possible for the sake of our kids.
As for Roseanna’s plans, she is looking forward to spending more time with her husband Paul also with their grandchildren, all of whom live in San Diego. Paul and Roseanna will continue to call PLC their church home and look forward to serving PLC in a new capacity.
While Roseanna’s departure will leave a substantial void, we are excited to welcome new leadership to our Children’s Ministry. The seeds Roseanna has planted will continue to grow, and we remain committed to providing a nurturing environment where children can learn and grow in God’s love and their identity as one of His children.
Thank you, Roseanna, for your unwavering dedication to PLC. May this new chapter bring you joy, rest, and abundant blessings!
