He Cares For You

“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you." –1 Peter 5:7
Life can be filled with situations that cause us to worry. We may feel anxious about school, friendships, our jobs, relationships at work, family challenges, finances, health concerns, or uncertainty about the future. Anxiety can come in many different forms and affects each of us differently. Sometimes it shows up as racing thoughts, sleepless nights, tension in our bodies, a lack of focus, or a feeling of being overwhelmed.
Let us first take a minute to define anxiety… Anxiety is the feeling of worry, fear, or uneasiness about something that may happen or something we cannot control. While anxiety is a common part of the human experience, God never intended for us to carry those burdens alone.
I remember when I was transferring to Point Loma Nazarene University, leaving home, and starting a new routine. This was a particularly challenging time in my life for certain reasons, and I felt a lot of anxiety and uneasiness going into this new chapter. I felt alone, uncertain about what I even wanted to do with my life vocationally…but I knew that God was there, even amid the uncertainty. He placed a friend in my life at that exact time when I needed her most. And I knew that this friendship was from Him.
In 1 Peter 5:7, God gives us a simple yet powerful command: cast all your anxiety on Him. The word "cast" means to throw something upon another. God invites us to take every fear, every concern, and every burden, and place it into His hands. Why? Because He cares for us. Not because we have earned His care, but because His love for us is constant and unconditional.
The world offers many temporary comforts, but Jesus offers something far greater. In John 14:27, He says, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives." God's peace is different. It is not dependent on our circumstances, our success, or whether everything is going according to plan. His peace is rooted in His presence.
God is the source and center of true peace. When we focus on Him instead of our fears, we begin to experience the calm assurance that He is in control. This does not mean our problems disappear overnight, but it does mean we no longer have to face them by ourselves.
Today, think about what is causing you anxiety. What worries are you carrying that God is asking you to surrender? Take a moment to pray and intentionally place those concerns before Him. Trust that He hears you, loves you, and is walking beside you through every challenge.
When anxiety begins to creep into your heart, remember this promise: God cares for you. And because He cares for you, He offers you a peace that no person, circumstance, or possession can ever provide.
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for caring for me and loving me through every season of life. When anxiety and worry begin to overwhelm me, help me remember to bring my burdens to You. Teach me to trust in Your goodness and rest in Your peace. Fill my heart with the assurance that You are with me and that You are working in every situation. Help me focus on Your presence rather than my fears.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
