GROWING in Faith Never Stops…Even If We Think We’re All Grown Up

PLC Core Value #6 | Pastor Sean Kelly

Some of us have been in church long enough to remember when flannel-graphs were the cutting edge and the arrival of drums in worship meant the end times were probably next Tuesday.

You’ve sat through more sermons than you can count. You’ve got notes in the margins of your Bible from three pastors ago. You know how to pronounce “Melchizedek” without Googling it. Impressive.

But here’s the thing…spiritual growth isn’t something you graduate from.

Faith isn’t a class you finish or a box you check off. It’s a living, breathing journey with Jesus. And that journey keeps going. Always. Not because you’re doing it wrong, but because God still has more to show you. More to shape in you. More to pour out through you.

Some of the most powerful growth happens after the spiritual training wheels come off. When it’s no longer about learning the basics, but about living your faith in real time, with real people, in real community.

And that’s where it gets good.

Because mature faith doesn’t settle in. It steps out. It doesn’t just ask “What’s in this for me?” It starts asking “Who can I walk with? Who can I encourage? Who needs to know they’re not alone?”

You don’t need a degree in theology to walk with someone. You don’t need a perfect story or fancy words. You just need a faith that’s still curious and a willingness to bring someone along with you.

So if you’ve been around for a while and you’re wondering what’s next…maybe it’s time to stop asking for the map and start becoming a guide. Maybe it’s time to turn your well-worn faith into a well-lit path for someone else.

There’s someone in your row, in your group, in your life who needs what God has already grown in you.

And there is still more of Him to discover.

So don’t settle in. Step forward.

Let’s keep growing. Let’s keep giving it away.

Let’s gooooo!
