Call Committee for Bob Rognlien as a Called and Deployed Pastor
July 2026 Update
By Josh Thornes
As Pastor Sean mentioned in his earlier article, “Called, Deployed, and Sent: An Opportunity for PLC,” and in accordance with PLC bylaws, a Call Committee was formed by the PLC Council to call Bob Rognlien as a Called and Deployed Pastor at PLC. The committee called a meeting with all members present on May 23.
Committee members were selected from PLC members who had personal experience with Bob and Pam through attending a workshop or as members of his congregation in Torrance, California. Pastor Sean opened the discussion by explaining the opportunity (as he now has with our entire congregation) and the ask that PLC Council is making of the committee: To consider if Bob should be a “Called and Deployed Pastor” of PLC.
The Committee accepted the task, formally formed and elected a chairperson, Josh Thornes. Each member was then asked to share some of their interactions with Bob and Pam and if as a pastor attached to PLC he would be aligned to our vision and congregational goals. As the testimonies were shared by each member, the excitement for the potential of this partnership was undeniable in the room! The overwhelming opinion was that the relationship would strengthen PLC in our mission to connect people with Jesus and one another.
Several administrative actions were taken by the committee related only to the legal liability of this new potential relationship, but the committee unanimously passed a motion to recommend that the congregation call Bob Rognlien as a Called and Deployed Pastor at PLC. This motion will be brought to the PLC Annual Meeting on Sunday, August 23 for congregational vote. Please plan to attend or to turn in your proxy vote, as we will vote on this and our annual budget!
