January 2019 Prayer Devotional

“Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for the gracious and compassionate and righteous man. Good will come to him who is generous and lends freely, who conducts his affairs with justice. Surely he will never be shaken; a righteous man will be remembered forever. He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.” -Psalm 112:4-7

For many, January brings periods of reflection over the past and anticipation for the new year to come. In a world that can be filled with uncertainty, Psalm 112 tells us that “even in darkness light dawns for God’s people.” The Psalmist assures us that we will never be shaken, have no fear of bad news, and have steadfast hearts as we trust in the Lord. Our hearts and minds can be easily pulled down a trail of worry and anxious thoughts. This month as we pray, let us meditate on this scripture allowing our Lord to lead us deeper into a life of trust.

Pray with us as we pray:

  • Praise God for a new year asking for His Blessing and Presence over our church, our homes, and our community.
  • Meditate over Psalm 112 asking God to speak into this new year.
  • Pray as God leads you for a friend, family member, or neighbor currently facing hardship.
