Stewardship Devotional ~ 10.29.15

stewardship devotionalMatthew 25:29  and Matthew 13:12

For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have abundance.  Whoever does not have, even that he has will be taken from him.

Jesus concluded two separate parables with the admonition above.

Matthew 13:1-23 gives us the parable of the four soils, where the farmers seed falls on various types of soil, the seed that falls on the good soil produces a crop of a hundred, sixty, or thirty times what was sown.  Seed that falls of other types of soil fades away.

Matthew 25:14-30 gives us the parable of the loaned money.  Servants are given gifts and God judges how the servants use the gifts.  One servant has five talents and turns them into 10, and one servant has one talent and does nothing with it.

When we receive gifts from God; Health, Happiness, Fortune, Family, Salvation, and many others, we are not to keep them to our selves for our own selfish needs.  The gifts we share and use wisely will be multiplied when we share them with others.

When we choose not to share the gifts or use the gifts from God, the consequence is alienation and separation from God. Matthew 25:30…”Throw that worthless servant outside, into darkness…”

Talk about your carrot and stick approach.

Let us pray,

Dear God, Please bless us with your wonderful abundance.  Please help us to use your gifts to reflect your glory to all on earth.  Help us to use your gifts to spread the good new of your love and our salvation. Amen
