Roseanna Andersen

Director of Children's Ministry

When Roseanna and her husband, Paul, moved their three boys to San Diego in 1995, finding a new Lutheran church was their highest priority. After their first visit to PLC, they knew they were home. Roseanna joined the PLC staff in 1996. She finds great joy in watching kids and parents grow together in faith and she delights in coming alongside of parents as they bring their kids up in the Christian faith. At home…the joy continues as she spends time with her grandkids; singing, playing and teaching them about Jesus and His love...and showering them with hugs and kisses, of course!

Wesley Berger

Worship Associate

Wesley is a formally educated music producer/engineer and an experienced, predominately self-taught musician. Originally from Minnesota, Wesley made the journey to San Diego in late 2016 to be with his wife, Sgt. Amanda Berger—USMC. Wesley’s connection to PLC came as a result of his experience at Redeemer Lutheran Church in MN, the prior church family of Pastor Sean Kelly. Outside of preparing and performing worship music for PLC services, Wesley spends his time raising his newborn son, Corson and recording and producing music for a variety of independent artists; himself included.

Adele Buffington

Director of Performing Arts

Adele has been on PLC's staff since 2000 and is very thankful for the ability to feed her passion for Jesus, people and music all in one place (a life trifecta!). She is definitely Lutheran, being raised in Wisconsin as a Lutheran PK (Pastor’s Kid) and an alum of Luther College. Besides music, Adele enjoys being a voice for PLC, editing the website and posting on its social media pages. Adele and Mike have two teenage daughters, Jennifer & Marit. You might not know that Adele is an adoptee and discovered her birth family in 2017. It has been amazing to learn about her new relatives!

Walter Bush

Cory Flewellen

Lead Audio/Visual Technician

Cory has faithfully served as our Lead A/V Tech since 2015. He has called PLC his church home since 1998, after moving here from Hawaii with his family. Having gone through all of PLC's Stepping Stones of Faith from getting his first Bible all the way to Confirmation, Cory has always had a fun, genuine and "all-in" kind of attitude. Cory is proud to be a part of all the behind-the-scene efforts that go into making the worship services, special events and C-MENT productions at PLC possible. In his spare time, Cory drives a semi-truck for a professional race team.

Rhonda Geske

Administrative Assistant

Rhonda started working at PLC in July 2017. She quickly settled in with the office staff and loves being a part of the PLC family. She enjoys working in the front office and supporting the wonderful ministries that PLC offers. Rhonda is originally from the San Francisco Bay Area but has lived in San Diego since 2005. She and her husband Ben are empty-nesters now as their son is a junior at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. Rhonda loves hiking and being outdoors, gardening, reading and spending time with family and friends. Fun fact:  Rhonda is a certified yoga instructor!

Greg Hoffmann

Associate Pastor

Pastor Greg's primary responsibility at PLC focuses on the areas of pastoral care and discipleship (while, as an introvert, complementing Pastor Sean’s extroverted personality). Pastor Greg is married to Cindy, his high school sweetheart, and they have 3 grown children and 10 grandchildren (yep, 10!). Having grown up in northern California, the Hoffmanns have called San Diego home since 1987 when they came to PLC. In his spare time Pastor Greg enjoys woodworking, hiking, running and reading.

Rob Horne

Associate Pastor

Rob has been on staff at PLC since 2013 and primarily has administrative and operational responsibilities. He is a San Diego native and has never found a reason to leave ‘America’s Finest City.’ Rob enjoys time with his wife Nikki, and their two daughters Emma and Josie. As a family they enjoy camping, the beach, off-roading in the desert, skiing, and trips to the park. Rob is inspired by people who are good at their craft and have a passion for what they do. On a day off, you can find Rob riding his mountain bike on Black Mountain, exploring the desert, or working on a project at home.

Jane Josephs

Director of Discipleship

Jane began working at PLC in 2003 and greatly enjoys her position as it fuels her love of reading, writing, and helping people grow in their knowledge of God and His Word. In her spare time, Jane enjoys hanging out with friends and family, beating her husband at Scrabble (not!), and traveling. A few years ago, Jane began ignoring housework to write Contemporary Inspirational Romance. Her first novel, The Ruby Knot, is scheduled for publication in July 2018. Jane and her husband Steve have two adult children and five adorable grandchildren.

Sean Kelly

Senior Pastor

Sean has been the Senior Pastor since 2012 and on the PLC pastoral team since 2007. Before coming to San Diego, he and his family lived in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota. He and his wife Jenny were both born and raised in the Los Angeles area where they met and married. They have four sons, 2 grandchildren, a dog, no cats and a great big extended family here at PLC.

Betty King

C-MENT Director

Sally King

Ministry Assistant

Sally has been on staff at PLC since August of 2016, although she has grown up here since she was a baby; an active member involved in Sunday School, Confirmation, numerous C-MENT productions, and high school youth group. After attending Azusa Pacific University and receiving a degree in Psychology she moved back to San Diego. It has been exciting for her to come back as an adult and work at her home church. Besides working in the front office, she enjoys being a youth mentor working with kids and spending time with her family and their English bulldog, Rex.

Aaron Kloo

Weekend Custodian

Aaron is building up his muscles and stamina as the weekend custodian at PLC. Need a room unlocked, a set-up changed, or directions around campus on the weekend? He’s your guy! Aaron loves gaming, so you'll want him on your team if you are a gamer! (Unlike this photograph, if you are looking for Aaron on campus, look for the guy wearing a gamer t-shirt.) Aaron also enjoys watching football. His favorite team is the Washington Redskins, much to the horror of his parents, whose mother is a die-hard Cowboys fan and father is an Eagles fan. Go Redskins!

Dana Kloo

Alpha Administrator

Dana has been a PLC member since March 2002. She and her husband Brian have two adult children and two grandchildren. Dana was a Systems Engineer for 25 years and being very shy, never envisioned she would lead an evangelistic outreach ministry. God knew what was coming though and prepared her along the way! Outreach and spiritual development is now her passion. She began volunteering with Alpha at PLC in 2008, joining the staff in 2013. Dana enjoys painting, crafts, reading, and flying kites. She finds birds fascinating, so if you are together outdoors and suddenly lose her attention, she’s probably looking at a bird!

Andrea Petsche

Preschool Director

Andrea started out as an Assistant Teacher cleaning paint jars, bandaging skinned knees, and helping kids share. She has directed faith-based early childhood programs in Phoenix, Los Angeles and now at PCP. Andrea’s education philosophy is based on the recognition that children are natural learners and learn best when actively engaged. It brings her great joy to see children learn about Jesus and His great love for them. Andrea was born in Michigan, raised in both California and Iowa and has spent most of her post-college years in Southern California. Her passion for culture, education, people and faith is a true reflection of her roots.

Danny Scarbrough

Director of Youth Ministries

Danny enjoys developing disciples through living out the ways of Jesus with genuine community. Danny loves helping young people discover God, ask hard questions, and serve one another while caring adults travel with them on the journey. Danny and his wife Sammie came to San Diego and PLC in 2012 and have fallen in love with the city and its people. Their lives changed dramatically in May 2015 when they welcomed their first child, Elle, into the world. Thankfully, Danny is a gifted napper. Danny loves people, sports, the beach, and playing sports on the beach with people. Go A’s & 49'ers!!!

Liane Schreffler

Liane joined the PLC staff in July 2017. She and her husband Eric, have been members of PLC since 1994, joining shortly after moving to Rancho Peñasquitos from Los Angeles. Liane and Eric have two grown sons, Tim and Brian, who grew up at PLC. Liane has taught Sunday School (1st/2nd grade) and Confirmation (with Eric). She has also sewn a few VBS aprons and Confirmation stoles and sings in the choir. Liane enjoys quilting and her daily walks with her dog Shadow, but her greatest joy is spending time with family...especially her grandson!

Paul Schwappach

Director of Worship

Paul started his relationship with PLC as an interim worship leader in February 2015. In the fall of that year he started a career change into software engineering. God had different plans and called him back to PLC in September of 2016. He and his wife Bethany have been married since July 2012 and both share a passion in music and sharing the Gospel through singing. Paul still enjoys video gaming and balances it with spending time outside golfing, food is always on the table as well (pun intended) and loves to share time with others in fellowship over dinner and board games.

Christa Smith

Youth Ministry Intern

Christa is the year-long youth ministry intern. In her sophomore year of college she was introduced to PLC by a college friend and fell in love with the Christ-centered community. She graduated from APU with an art degree, but her greatest passion is people. Doing life alongside the incredible squad of middle and high schoolers at PLC continually brings her immense joy and laughter. As a San Diego native, Christa loves the outdoors–especially the beach. Her additional passions include, but are not limited to:  her puggle, pizza, coffee, discovering new music, and traveling.

Shaby Tolo

Office Manager

Shaby spends 60% of her time managing PLC’s front office, 50% shuttling her teen-aged twin boys to teen-agey activities, 70% cleaning/preparing food, 90% exercising to Netflix, and 110% studying facts and figures. Don’t ask her how she finds the time! No really, just don’t. She lived overseas in Scotland, Norway and Holland before moving state-side to study accounting at San Diego State University. In addition to her sons Gabriel and Peter, she is blessed by Ben, her adoring husband of 25+ years with a penchant for writing bios. 😉

Janet Weber

Janet has helped lead worship services as an organist since she was a teenager. She started playing with worship teams while at PLC in the early 90’s. She loves to make music with PLC’s many talented musicians. Janet finds it especially rewarding to have musicians volunteer to share their music gifts, thus expanding PLC’s music ministry. She and her husband Joel are retired and blessed to live in San Diego.

Adriana Wilcox

Associate in Children's Ministry

Adriana has worked at PLC since 2006. She volunteered as a Sunday School teacher and VBS leader when her two sons were young...when the job opportunity arose she was a perfect candidate! She's still teaching 5th/6th Grade Sunday School alongside her husband of 29 years. She also co-teaches Confirmation Prep classes. Having lived in San Diego County all her life, Adriana enjoys hiking, biking, the beach and Karate. Adriana is a second-degree black belt and certified Karate instructor. She loves teaching “Life Lessons--Character Counts” at local schools and is continually inspired by the Lord to work with children and families in need.

Leanne Yi

Preschool Office Manager

Leanne joined our staff in August 2015. She never in her wildest dreams thought she’d be working for a preschool at a church. She grew up Lutheran and has really grown to know Jesus during her time at PLC. Before she was hired at Peñasquitos Christian Preschool, she was a very active PLC volunteer from Vacation Bible School to leading a Confirmation small group. Leanne has been married to Sung since 2014, and has three children:  Maddie (14) Vinny (12) and Balin (9). They enjoy spending time together as a family, camping, and working out. Leanne loves getting to know each child at the preschool as well as the families. "...Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another" (John 13:34).
