September 2018 Prayer Devotional

Seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare. -Jeremiah 29:7 (ESV)

This month’s Bible verse is from a letter that the prophet Jeremiah sent from Jerusalem to the Israelites living in exile in Babylon under King Nebuchadnezzar. Jeremiah instructed the Israelites to pray for their new land, new neighbors, and even their captors for as the “new land” prospers so will they. Today we are also called to pray for our surroundings as we wait for the Kingdom of God to come in fullness.

Pray with us as we pray for:

  • Wisdom and unity for our church as we work to spread the Gospel through a new year of Sunday School, Confirmation, and Life Connection Ministries.
  • Our local schools, colleges, and universities as they re-open for another school year.
  • City, state, and federal officials as they govern.
