Stepping Stones of Faith
A ministry of PLC in which we bless the child, gift the family and call the parents to the promises of baptism by providing family educational opportunities at specific milestones in a child’s life because we believe the family is the primary school of faith.

Prayer Workshop (1st graders)
This two-session workshop for first graders and their parent(s) introduces and explores the gift of prayer; why we pray and how we pray. Parents will be encouraged in ways they can pray for their child and make prayer a vital part of their family life. The kids' workshop is filled with family fun...games and activities...first grader style! Offered once per year (normally in January), the workshop culminates in a special service of blessing following completion of the class. 2012 Workshop:  Sat., Jan. 21 (parents only) from 7:00-9:00 pm & Sun., January 22 (1st/2nd graders and their parents) from 2:00-3:30 pm. Pre-registration with Roseanna Andersen is required for materials.
Third Grade Bible Workshop
This three-session workshop for students/parents explores the Bible, God’s love letter to the world. Discussion, games and activities teach Bible basics: how it was written, organized, how we use it, and highlights key stories and truths found within it. The workshop is offered once per year (usually in October) and results in a time during church services when parents place a Bible (a gift from PLC) in their child's hands.
Sacrament Workshop* (5th graders)
2012 Classes: Â Saturdays--March 17, 24 & 31 Â 1:00-3:30 pm
This is a three-session workshop for students/parents that explores the Sacraments of Holy Baptism and Communion. Hands-on activities help families grow in their understanding of God's coming to us in and through the sacraments. Offered once per year, the workshop results in a special First Communion service on Maundy Thursday (just before Easter).
*A one-day “teen version” workshop is offered every other year (i.e. 2013) for students who start attending PLC after they have completed 6th grade. There is no teen workshop in 2012.
“Head to the Heart” Workshop (Parents of 7th/8th graders)
Parents who attend this evening workshop will receive an introduction to PLC's Confirmation program for their 7th/8th grade students. The objective of this time is to outline expectations of participation for both parents and students as well as create a parents' network of support by sharing experiences of raising pre-teens in today's world.
The Rite of Confirmation (8th/9th graders)
Following two years in the Confirmation program of PLC is the Rite of Confirmation service, held on Reformation Sunday at the end of October. Confirmands present their "life verse" from God’s Word and publicly affirm their Christian faith during this meaningful service and celebration.
High School Graduation Breakfast (12th graders)
Graduating seniors and their parent(s) are invited to attend this special breakfast where they are recognized for their achievements in school and contributions to the life of the congregation. This is a time of inspiration as PLC's pastors and other guest speakers encourage the graduates to lead God-pleasing lives. The students are also recognized at a Sunday morning service.
