October 2018 Prayer Devotional

“…be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.”  Ephesians 6:10

The world tells us to find strength in our status, our achievements and abilities, our wealth, our education, etc., but in this verse from Ephesians, Paul writes that true strength comes from our Lord Jesus and His mighty power. Earthly things have a way of letting us down in times of need. Paul faced many hardships in his life. He had health problems, he was beaten repeatedly, shipwrecked, and jailed multiple times (2 Corinthians 11), but in each moment, Paul knew that he would not be “crushed, in despair, abandoned, or destroyed” (2 Corinthians 4:7-11). Like Paul we can also rely on the grace and power of Jesus to be with us in our time of need.

This month as we pray:

  • Spend some time in silence in the Lord’s presence asking Him to speak into your current circumstances giving you wisdom and strength.
  • Pray as God leads for a family member, friend, or neighbor who is currently hurting or in need.
  • Surround the Confirmation Class of 2018 in prayer as they prepare for their Rite of Confirmation on October 28th.
