“Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.” -Proverbs 11:25 ESV
The Bible has a lot to say about service. In Ephesians 2:10 we read that “…We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” We were created by God’s own hand to serve together for God’s Kingdom Purposes. This month’s scripture verse from Proverbs sheds a different light on Biblical service. In this proverb we read that through service to others, God intends to bring blessing not only through us but also to us. When we step out and serve others, we ourselves are blessed not only by the relationships that are made and enriched by working together, but also by seeing the Grace of God flowing through our work to those in need.
This month as we pray:
- Praise God for His character and His desire to bring blessing into the lives of His children.
- Pray that God would bring about a culture of service. Pray that through the movement of His Holy Spirit we would all be inclined to serve in our community generously in His Name.
- Ask God to identify a specific need that you could fill in your areas of influence and for courage to follow His promptings.
