“I have set the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken… You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.” Psalm 16:8,11
During the month of May in Sunday services we are learning about leading joy-filled lives. We are not promised a life without trials and hardship, but as David so beautifully describes in Psalm 16, we can be filled with joy in the presence of the Holy Spirit even in difficult times. When we continually set the Lord always before us, worldly problems and fears will not shake us. When we find ourselves in the middle of the trials of this life, it is important to cultivate joy in His presence by spending time in Bible study and prayer putting our Lord and God’s Biblical promises ever before us. God is faithful, and joy can be found in that faithfulness. (Zephaniah 3:14-20).
Let’s pray together…
- Spend time in our Lord’s presence this month meditating over Psalm 16. As you read the words, hand over your worries to the Lord and rest secure in His presence.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to bring to mind a friend or neighbor who is hurting or experiencing trials. Pray for Jesus to surround them with peace and help them to find Joy in Him.
- Pray that we as a church would be known for being God’s hands and feet to each other and the surrounding community administering God’s grace in its various forms. (1 Peter 4:10).
