“My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” -Exodus 33:14
Moses had a very special relationship with our God. In this chapter from Exodus, Moses is growing weary of his leadership responsibilities among the Israelites. God reassures him that regardless of what each day holds, God’s presence will go with Moses, and God will give him rest. This scriptural promise of “rest” isn’t a two-week summer vacation for Moses to read a good novel on the beach and recharge. It is a promise of security and peace that is available to each of us in the presence of God in all of our situations. Life can get really complicated. It is a blessing that each of us can bring our circumstances into God’s presence through an ongoing relationship with Jesus and find rest.
Let’s Pray Together:
- During these summer months, make a point of spending more time with Jesus. This could be time in silence before the Lord, time in prayer, or time in scripture meditation. Just spend intentional moments in relationship with the One who loves you dearly.
- Cry out to the Lord for His presence in your current situation. (Isaiah 58:9) Need help praying? Stop by the ‘prayer chair’ (in the back of the Sanctuary) during services or submit a prayer request online.
- Pray for the people in your circles of influence… pray that we would all find hope, healing, guidance and rest at the feet of Jesus.
