July 2017 Prayer Devotional

“…Since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might…” -Colossians 1: 9-11

Paul’s prayers for the churches under his care are not only powerful and eloquent, they are also quite useful as examples in our own prayer life today. During the month of July, there are many opportunities for outreach and missional work happening around PLC. Paul’s letters in the New Testament show us that Paul continually and faithfully prayed for the work of the church. This month as we pray, let’s surround these various times of mission in prayer using Paul’s prayer for the Colossians as our model. As we pray through the listed events of the church, pray for the volunteers as well as the people attending the different opportunities. Pray that all would be filled with spiritual wisdom and understanding growing in the knowledge of God, every good work would bear fruit, and the church would be strengthened.
