Advent (from the Latin word for coming) is the season in the church year we anticipate the coming of Jesus. While we anticipate the celebration of Jesus’ first coming (to Bethlehem over 2000+ years ago), it is also a season whereby we prepare and anticipate Jesus’ return. At PLC, we celebrate Advent through our worship and reflection. These midweek services vary in style and structure from celebratory to contemplative; from traditional Advent and Christmas hymns to modern songs.

Advent 2018: What Are You Waiting For?

Week 1:  Christian Community Is Essential

I Thessalonians 3:6-13

The apostle Paul, concerned for the Thessalonian Christians, shares with them his gratitude and love for them. He closes in a prayer that, as lived out even today, transforms the Church to be a life-giving community in the midst of a lonely and self-centered world.

Week 2:  Making Space For Community

Philippians 1:3-11

Do we hold our fellow Christians in our heart, willingly forgiving others and abounding in love for the community of the Church? To prepare for Christmas or the Return of Christ means to become authentic in our life as the Church.

Week 3:  Standing Firm Until The End

Philippians 4:1-9

This Advent may we seek to stand firm in the Lord, joyously making space for Emmanuel and His people in our life. In the midst of the anxiety of the season or our lives, we rejoice because the Lord is near!
