“…when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.” -Titus 3:4-7
On that Holy night in Bethlehem, God’s plan for our salvation was set in motion. Jesus is the embodiment of “the kindness and love of God our Savior.” Out of mercy, God sent His Son that night to live among us first in flesh then in Spirit. He came near so that we could “have the hope of eternal life.” As we focus our attention toward Christmas this month, let’s spend some time reflecting on God’s kindness, love, mercy and grace.
- Praise God for His gift in Jesus. Spend intentional time in worship reflecting on each of these specific gifts: kindness, love, mercy and grace.
- Ask God for an outpouring of His Spirit to bring renewal, rebirth, and revival to our world, our country, our city and our community. Come Emmanuel.
- Pray for your family, your neighbors, and the people with whom you come into contact each day. Ask God for wisdom and courage to share the story of Christmas with someone during this time.
- Pray for our church staff during this busy season of the church.
